Summer–Like the Sun in the sky, the temperatures are high to match. When one walks into the world to be a contributing member of society, it feels more or less like you’re breathing through a wet towel. Through the crowds or up your empty town roads–no matter where you are, dense air weighs on the neck and you’re unable to differentiate the water in the atmosphere from the sweat on your skin. Lately it’s been feeling like that sort of day nearly every day with the embers of sunlight scattered across the clouds, unrelenting in sharing their heat. It’s beautiful in a naturally obnoxious way.

But summer is summer! Many people love this time of year and others loathe it, but the weather undeniably can affect a person in different ways. Some people simply can’t take the heat while others revel in it, or indifference stands just enough to get someone through the day - but when it negatively affects moods and raises pressure, anger can go to the head much easier in the fires of July—Assuming those fires haven’t been drenched by the might of the annual typhoon season that passes through the country. Search & Rescue heroes might be pretty busy this time of year.

Students may be getting ready to take it easy for their summer vacation toward the end of July, but many Heroics students are preparing to intern with professional heroes during this time. It’s a golden opportunity to get out into the field and understand the day-to-day life of professionals, whether wild enough to find itself in the news or just a quiet day among the citizens–every aspect must be understood with no illusions. In this case, intense heat always brings an increase in crime. It could be as simple as a minor argument disturbing the public or a real brawl taking out entire structures–order must stand over chaos! Take notes, kids!

Even without interns under your belt, a pro-hero is always on the clock. July is a busy festival season all over Japan, which, in tandem with the weather, could make a pretty nasty cocktail for disaster if left unchecked. Sometimes, however, many festivals pass without incident and thanks to the heroes and their Symbol of Peace, criminals should probably think twice. Who knows who can pop up, after all...

[ Welcome to/back to Plus Ultra! First and foremost, allow me to link the opening game CR Meme. That may seem weird, but if people want to pre-establish a relationship with anyone else, then this is the place to make some plans (more below). Since this AU is less about being dropped into the world and more about already existing in it and growing from there, this could be a helpful start.

I’ve made this mingle log for July-August because the timing is actually rather awkward if we go by actual Japanese calendars for schools, so it’s to help the student characters more than anything. Last week of July until Aug 25~31 is the summer break for most students and then it’s back to school.

Most pro heroes tend to know others in the market, but anyone can embrace the concept of being “up and coming” as well. This log will be vague to get people started with exploring the world and if you have ANY QUESTIONS, please reply to the FAQ so I can leave it for others to see as well. Enjoy!! ]

Summer Time Wildness!

As if the overtly energetic teen needed more reasons to be wild and out, Summer was a time she verily enjoyed a bit too much! Though honestly, if you asked others, they'd say she enjoys everything a lot too much... Regardless, Lulu was going to make it her personal goal to vist each and every festival that was going to occur this season! That's why you'll find the purple hued girl at every single one of them, having one hell of a time and enjoying herself to the fullest!

Don't mind if she runs up to you like she knows you and starts talking all friendly like... That's, sort of what she does!

Maybe Lulu's secondary quirk is seeking out the least approachable-looking people at the festival, because honestly, she's doing amazing. It may be early in the evening, but Hyde's just trying to pass through and grab some food before he escapes the festivities. It's already been a long day of wrapping shrine carriers' sprained ankles and cleaning up children's scraped knees. He sees something charging toward him from the corner of his eye and tries to shuffle backwards behind someone else to avoid being seen, but by then it's already too late and Lulu's already talking to him. Ugh, kids...

Kyle listens for as long as he can with a blank expression, waiting for his chance to get a word in. When the time finally comes, though... "Don't you have some goldfish to catch or an expressway to play in or something? I'm trying to go home." Ah, so the complete opposite of friendly, then... The party pooper.

"Ooooo! You can catch gold fish here?! Do you get to keep them?! I didn't have festivals like this back home, this is so exciting!" I don't... think that was his intention Lulu... Regardless, he seems to have grabbed her attention even more!

"Huh? But why would you want to go home?! There's still so much to see and I bet you know all the good and fun things to do in these kinds of festivals!"

Oh, she's still going-- WAIT A MINUTE, no, she had better stop right there! Like Hell he's going to play tour guide for some obnoxious little brat! He folds his arms and frowns at Lulu, "Yeah. I've seen it already. You and I ain't gonna find the same things 'fun.'"

"Because I'm an adult and we're all boring." To kids, right? He keeps frowning, like Lulu's statement is a challenge. "You keep running around like that and you're gonna hurt yourself." Maybe if he tells her to tone it down she'll get bored and leave...

"What?! Who would say something like that? I've known plenty of fun and cool adults!" Psh, like her parents!

"Aww, don't worry, I'm good! And besides, if I do hurt myself, it'll be a lesson learned!"

"Sure, but I'm not one of them," Hyde replies and pinches the bridge of his nose. Cripes... Where ARE her parents? They should be pulling her away by the ear and telling her not to talk to strangers about now, right?

Well, if trying to push her away outright isn't working, maybe compromise will. "If I show you a stall will you buzz off and bug your parents instead?"

"Aww, I'm sure you're plenty fun! You just gotta go out and do it!" she giggled. No Hyde, you're not dismissing her so easy!

At the latter comment, she rubbed the back of her head awkwardly and smiled. "Ah, well, they're not really here. I'm a foreign exchange student you see, so I live at the dorms!"

His face scrunches in a way that suggests he might be allergic to fun. That would explain a lot... Really, though, he's just tired of hanging around on request from--

...Ah. "An exchange student?" He repeats, "What school are you going to?"

"Yup! I'm going to that..." She looked up for a few moments in thought. "Uh, I think I forgot the name," she laughed a bit before smiling back up at him. "It's the one over by that way." she points in the direction of the school dorms. "I'ts next to this really nice park! Has a huge stadium where we get to train to be heroes!"

He doesn't even need to look in the direction Lulu's pointing in, he just sighs and grumbles "Ahh, crap" under his breath. Oh, that's just typical. You're never done babysitting these students, huh!?

"Yeah, and if you get hurt I'm the one that's gotta patch you up, so watch yourself. What's your name, kid?"

"Oh neat! So you're like a doctor? Or a nurse?!" she smiled brightly. "See, you're a good person, helping others. It's what I aspire to do once I'm a full blown hero!" she struck a heroic pose... that looked cuter than heroic.

"Hm? Oh, sorry! My name's Lulu! Nice to meet ya!"

"I am a doctor," Kyle makes a feeble attempt to correct Lulu, but it looks like she's already moved on to posing. If he wasn't so sure that the principal would put him up to more 'volunteer' work like this once they found out he'd left an exchange student to fend for herself, he would be at home already. It's going to be a long day, huh...?

What do kids even like to do now. He keeps his arms folded and looks like he's weighing out the pros and cons of distracting Lulu enough to make an escape... But that's a worse idea. "All right, I guess I got time to show you around a little. Where have you already been?"

"You are?! That's amazing! You're like a real real hero!" Lulu dances in place and smiles up at him. Not even noticing the turmoil that are his thoughts on what he should do right now, Lulu perks up when he seems to offer a tour!

"Oh oh, ummm, I've been to the colorful places first cause those looked the most interesting! I've never seen a festival like this before so I wana make sure I see and learn as much as I can about it!"

Oh, yuck. He lets out a sigh at Lulu's sudden extra enthusiasm and starts looking for a stand she hasn't been to yet. ... ...Uh, they're ALL pretty colorful. But judging by her reaction earlier, Kyle has an idea about at least one she hasn't seen.

"You been to that one over there yet?" He points to the goldfish scooping stall a short walk away. It's right next to a food stall with a brightly-decorated banner, so she might have missed it on her first run through.

Lulu looks over and her eyes brighten, "Ooo I haven't seen that one yet! It looks fun! Look at all those happy people," she pointed at some of the kids leaving the area with their prizes.

"I knew you'd be good at this! Let's go!!!" she giggled and pointed at the stall.

Look at all those happy kids! It's exactly enough to make him regret not running when he had the chance. "Yeah, yeah..." He grumbles and follows after Lulu.

As they get closer to the booth it definitely brings about a little nostalgia -- just enough to make him less likely to ditch a child. "Have you ever played this before? It ain't easy."
